Visual art curriculum

The curriculum is based on the revised Tennessee State Visual Art Standards. These are aligned with the National Visual Art Standards with the ultimate goal of preparing our students for career and college. The work we will do this year emphasizes growth in creative and design thinking, knowledge of global, traditional and contemporary art connections, curating and presentation, and visual, textual and artistic literacy. We will continue to work on increasing art making skills, 21st Century skills and Studio Habits. Lessons will balance conceptualization and skills. We will create both intrinsic and utilitarian art works in a variety of media. processes and techniques: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture (paper, found-object, clay), photography, & graphic design. This is a two-semester course.
